Sansom Institute

Founded in 2004 and named after eminent Australian pharmacist Lloyd Sansom AO, the Sansom Institute is the University of South Australia’s flagship health and biomedical research concentration.
The Sansom Institute brings together leading scientists who are finding solutions to some of the big health care challenges of the 21st century: cancer treatment; genetic and infectious diseases; nutrition and exercise; population health and epidemiology; and the early origins of adult health.

Leading edge research facilities, including the Experimental Therapeutics Laboratory facilitate high quality cellular biological research undertaking processes including high throughput cell sorting, live cell confocal microscopy and florescence and small animal live imaging.  The Sansom works closely with the Centre for Cancer Biology, The Wark and The Mawson Institute at the University of South Australia to improve human health through innovative, outcomes focused research.
